VISIT WEST USA
Having struggled pass the Rocky Mountains,
many travellers came to sunny California.
Some rested a bit before this, a place which has grown rapidly after
the Second World War, namely Las Vegas.
LAS VEGAS
The gambling city of the world. Neon-lights.
Millionairs, and those who wanna-be millionaires. People are taking chances.
We are in the midst of the dessert. Gambling is the keyword.
Plastic hotels upon plastic hotels, some may say. Everything is
artificial, however, charming. Experience i.e. Venice
with gondolas while the artificial heaven turn toward evening. Or,
the neon of gambling casinos.
There are three types of gamling: table
gambling, machines, and rolling dice like roulettes. Everyone loses,
and the city makes 10 billion dollars a year on that account. The
electricity bill can be 1 million dollars … so, Vegas is a
profit centre.
Within some square miles/kilometers you can
get together with the whole world. There is a little bit of Egypt, a little bit of Paris,
a little bit of Japan, and a little bit of everything.
The town is also known for its wedding
chapels. There are about 50 of them, and a wedding takes place
every five minutes, meaning 100.000 weddings a year. The White Chapel
has fame from Elvis Presley. In Las Vegas
there are 1.000 Elvis imitators, but only 10 of them doing it for a living.
Elvis performed in Vegas from 1969 until his death in 1977. You can
experience shows of any
kind. Mamma Mia, The Rat Pack, etc. Enjoy a show while you are there.
Some of the waiters and servant people have been experiencing the
true artists of that time in the 1960’es and 1970’ies.
Liberace, for instance, was a talented classical pianist, who grew so
famous playing 6.000 piano-keystrokes a minute that you’d definitely
have to visit his museum.
About 15 miles South West of Vegas, you can find ground zero where
the atomic bombs were tested in 1951 and onwards.
Vegas grew much and fast after the Second World War, but was originally founded in 1909. A city located in
a meadow, thus in translation meaning Las Vegas.
A scenic flight takes you over the Hoover Dam and further to Grand
Canyon. Here you can take
walks, or donkey and horse rides through the 2 billion year old
surfaces of the world.

DENVER
At the edge of the Rocky Mountains
travellers discovered gold in 1858, just 150 years ago. This
made people rush towards this beautiful landscape, right by snow
mountains.
Time has gone, so do not expect gold, however, a God devined country area.
LOS ANGELES
Having passed the dry valley of death,
people came to the Pacific
Ocean, and founded Los Angeles.
The city was not much of an attraction, which is indicated by the
size of the population. In 1900 the city had 100.000 people. Now the
city has 3.5 million people.
The dream life of Hollywood, the home of American movie industry, has attracted many
dreaming persons.
The city was established in 1781, and known as: ``The Village of Our
Lady the Queen of the Angels of Poricuncula".
The 1920'ies suddenly doubled the population of the area. Imagine,
less than 100 years ago.
Los Angeles now offers a variety of turistic
entertainment: Universal Studios, Disneyland, Sea
World, Bush Gardens, and much more.
SAN FRANCISCO
People came from China. The Chinatown
is one of the largest Chinese communities outside Asia.
Tourist attractions: Chinatown, Coit Memorial Tower,
Fisherman's Wharf, The Golden Gate Bridge, and the
cable car system.
Across the Golden
Gate Bridge
you can experience the tall Red
Wood trees.
