VISIT NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand is a mountainous country. It has more than 220 named mountains
exceeding 2,200 meters. Three kilometers high
mountains can be found on the South
island. No skiing - but mountains
with snow creates a contrast to the beaches.
In the midst of the Pacific Ocian a
mountain ridge set of islands rise. New Zealand in Maori, Aotearoa, ``Land of the
Long White Cloud".
The capital is Wellington on the North island, and with a view to the Southern island. Wellington is
very windy, around 90 km/hour (56 miles/hour).
The North Island is the home to most of the population.
The South Island has the Fiordland National Park, and the mountain is named Southerne
Alp with 15 peaks.
Gold diggers tried their luck i.e. in the 1890ies by Deep Creek at
the mountain chain The Remarkables.
Here, at the Central Otago, we find Mount Pisa - which is so beautiful that it is burned in gold. Nowadays,
however, the area is for sheeps. Sheeps are gold, and farmers can sort out 3000 sheeps an hour on their farms. Sheeps
are being cut for the use of their wool, and you will be surprised to
experience how a professional sheep-hair-cutter cuts 200 sheeps a day, each taking only two minutes to cut.
Merino Wool is used for the finest Italian coats, and each skin is
sold for four times a normal sheep skin (i.e. normal 20 US dollars,
Merino 80 US dollars).
Well trained sheep-dogs gathers the sheep, on
the instruction of the human whistle. Dogs get trained to eight types of
whistling, one for ``go right", another for ``go left", ``come
back", and so on.
Being in such a country like New Zealand, do be prepared to experience rodeo/rhodeo.
Close to nature. In fact, we are in a region where active people
